Christmas & New Year Mega Program 2005 |

New England Malayalee Association would like to thank you all for your help in making the NEMA Christmas/ New Year Celebration a successful and memorable event. We are delighted with the sense of commitment you brought to our planning so that program proceeded in an organized and graceful way. |

Christmas New Year Mega program began with a welcome and a ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The program included an address by Reverend Ranjan George, and Invocation by Reverend C.V. Thomas. A play, “A Precious Gift” bringing together the work of more that fifteen young people, written and directed by Mrs. Jesse Thomas, presented the birth of Jesus and the people who brought their gift honoring the birth of Jesus. |

NEMA would like to thank all the participants in the play and also the carol singers. We extend thanks as well to the parents who helped us organize group presentation. The members of NEMA Committee and their spouses did an admirable job in arranging the food and overseeing the complicated planning of this special event. Binoy added some joyful spirit as our impromptu Santa, the visitor from the North, offering gifts to the children. The traditional and magnificently presented Margam Kali was well appreciated by the audience. Adding flavor to the festivities, variety of dances from traditional invocation to contemporary style were engaged and captured the audience at the first segment of the five-hour Mega show. An invocation dance presented gracefully by Gayathri and then followed a fast paced cinematic dance from the movie "Rain, Rain come again" reflected the remarkable talent of both the teachers and pupils. A dance from the movie " Mera Saya" charmed the audience with nostalgic moments. Very soon the stage was full of teenage dancers and their dances in colorful costumes. These dances from the Hindi move" Hum dil de chukhe sanam" and Tamil movie song titled "Tham thakka theem thakka thaiya thakka koothu" not only got praises for the skillfully choreographed enjoyable dance but also mesmerized the audience in awe.. Refreshments were served during the intermission. |

We extend thanks as well to all the Masters of Ceremony. The programs proceed flawlessly because of Anjali Shivakumar’s proficiency in the first section of the program Chitra and Binoy’s unique way of introducing each song and the singers for the Ganamela. |

Finally, we wish to thank all the singers of the Ganamela, and would like to pass the appreciative notes we received from the listeners, that each one sang spectacularly and this Ganamela was the best they ever heard and enjoyed in New England. We felt honored to be part of such an inspired group of people. Traditional dinner was served at the end of the program. |
